Centrifugally Cast Concrete Relining

Rio Tinto Culvert Refurbishment Program Phase 4

Refurbishing 14 culverts with the cumulative length of 160 m is no small feat. Using innovative technology, Aaro was able to streamline these works to provide the clients with increased value.

BGC Contracting needed to refurbish five different culvert locations along with Rio Tinto’s rail network. And, they needed experts to help them do it. The team at Aaro were the perfect fit.

The entire refurbishment involved a total of 14 culverts, ranging in diameter from 1200mm to 3100mm with a cumulative length of approximately 160m. The differing culvert diameters complicated the task for our team — but Aaro found a solution.

The culverts were refurbished using CentriPipe, a Centrifugally Cast Concrete. Centripipe is a cementitious material that performs structurally similar to a non-reinforced concrete pipe.
