Aaro were engaged by John Holland Rail (JHR) to reline three culvert locations under the New South Wales Country Regional Network (CRN). The lines were located on the Joppa Junction to Canberra line, approximately 294kms from Sydney towards Canberra. The three locations consisted of fourteen DN1200 CSP and five DN1500 CSP, approx. 17m each in length.
Due to its remote location, one of the ongoing challenges was access to the culverts to get the lining material into place, as each box was 2.5tonne. In two locations, we were able to construct a temporary track to allow for access down to the catchment. In the third location we designed a safety plan, that was approved by the Client, to utilise an excavator to track the boxes into place. This removed the need to disturb the natural environment.
